When installing an August Smart Lock, additional clearance is needed to allow the wing latches to fully extend in order to secure the device properly on the mounting plate.

  

#### August Wi-Fi Smart Lock, Gen 4

Dimensions and full clearance required to install the [August Wi-Fi Smart Lock](https://august.com/products/august-wifi-smart-lock) are as follows:

For installation, required clearance is 3.7” with wing latches fully extended.

The dimensions of the lock once it's installed on the door are: 2.83" (H) x 2.83" (W) x  1.75" (D)

In order to install:

*   August Smart Lock (1st gen)
*   August Smart Lock (2nd gen, HomeKit edition)

For installation, required clearance is 4.75” with wing latches fully extended.

Once installed, the dimensions of the lock on the door are: 3.39” (H) x 3.39” (W) x 2.22” (D)

For installation, required clearance is 4.125” with wing latches fully extended.

The dimensions of the lock once it's installed on the door are: 4.8" (H) x 2.6" (W) x  2.12" (D)
