# Setting up HomeKit on Your August Smart Lock

The video below is a brief overview illustrating the set up of Apple HomeKit on your HomeKit-enabled August Smart Lock. These instructions will work with the following August Smart Locks:

*   August Smart Lock 2nd Gen (serial # - L2XXXXXXXX)
*   August Smart Lock Pro (serial # - L3XXXXXXXX)
*   August Wi-Fi Smart Lock (serial # - L5XXXXXXXX)
*   Connected by August / Yale Access module (serial # - M1XXXXXXXX)

PLEASE NOTE: You should update your operating system to the latest available iOS release before setting up HomeKit. 

  

1.  Open the App and go to **Lock Settings**
2.  Select **HomeKit**
3.  Select **Enable HomeKit**
4.  Select **Continue**
5.  Remove the faceplate from the front of your Smart Lock to find the HomeKit code
6.  Scan the code using your iPhone’s camera
7.  Select **Done** or add the suggested scenes and select **Done**
8.  Select **F****inish** to complete the setup

If HomeKit fails, perform a physical reset. Follow the reset steps outlined in [this article](https://support.august.com/en_us/reset-homekit-r1h6O5QAv).
