If HomeKit fails, perform a physical reset. The directions to reset HomeKit vary depending on the generation of August Smart Lock that you have.

Select the August Smart Lock model you own for further instructions on how to reset HomeKit.

## Wi-Fi Smart Lock

1. Ensure the lock is not visible inside the Home App. If it is, delete the lock as an accessory inside the lock settings of the Home App.
2. Physically remove Wi-Fi Smart Lock from the door and lay it flat on a surface with the batteries facing the ceiling.
3. Remove the faceplate so you can see the LED.
4. Press and hold the small red button on the back of the lock. Notice that the Red LED will blink fast (at a rate of 8 times per second).
5. After the Red LED stops blinking, let go of the red button. PLEASE NOTE: You must hold down the red button longer than 5 seconds.

If the procedure was executed correctly, the red LED will light up briefly and then the Wi-Fi Smart Lock will reboot. You will see one longer flash of the green LED.

If the procedure failed, try holding down the red button again.

## Smart Lock Pro and August Smart Lock, 2nd Gen

1. Ensure the lock is not visible inside the Home App. If it is, delete the lock as an accessory inside the lock settings of the Home App.
2. Physically remove the Smart Lock from the door and lay it flat on a surface with the batteries facing the ceiling.
3. Remove the faceplate so you can see the LED.
4. While the lock is laying flat on a surface, remove/reinsert a battery. The lock should begin flashing green for 10 seconds.
    * NOTE: If the lock flashes red after the battery is reinserted, remove/reinsert it a second time.
5. Remove/reinsert a battery a second time within the 10 seconds.
    * NOTE: If you fail to remove/reinsert the battery a second time within the 10 seconds, the lock will flash red.
6. If the reset is successful, you will see two rapid green flashes. If you do not see this, try the steps again.

## Connected by August / Yale Access Locks

1. Power-cycle both your iOS device and the lock.
2. Retry the HomeKit setup.

Note: If the issue continues, try using another iOS device to operate HomeKit.
