With August Google Assistant integration, you can ask Google Assistant to control your door using your voice. ## How do I configure Google Home with my August Account? Following the steps below to pair your August Account with your Google Home account. You need to have a Google device such as a Google Home, Google Home Mini, or Google Home Max already [configured to your home network](https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7029485?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&hl=en-IN): 1. Open the **Google Home app** and log in to your Google Account 2. Tap **Devices** from the bottom of the page 3. Tap **Add (+)**. 4. Select **Works with Google** 5. In **Home Control**, search for **August** 6. Follow the steps to sign in to and verify your August Account 7. You need to agree to allow Google to Operate your August Smart Locks / View the Status of your August Smart Locks 8. Next, select a security code/PIN. **Be sure to use a memorable code as this is needed to operate your lock using Google Home.** 9. If applicable, add a Doorbell Cam This completes the configuration steps. To ensure the configuration was successful, go to the Home screen of the Google Home app and scroll until you see the Locks that are linked to your account. Your accounts should now be configured. If you need additional help setting up smart home devices to use with Google Home, this article has more information. Feel free to assign rooms to your Smart Lock(s) as needed. Once your August Account is connected to Google through the Google Home, you can make the following lock request or check the lock’s status: * “OK Google, lock my front door” (use the name assigned to your door in the August App) * “OK Google, is my front door locked?” * "OK Google, unlock my front door." Google Home will prompt you for your security PIN code. Reply with your PIN to unlock the door. Google Home will confirm that this action was successful by stating “The lock has been unlocked.” ❗ If you change the name of your lock in the August App, it is best to unlink and relink your accounts so the new name is recognized by Google Home. ## How do I update the security code/PIN for unlocking my door using Google Home?  In order to update your security code/PIN you will need to unlink and relink your August Account with your Google account. To do this, unlink your August Account from Google Home in the Google Home app. Follow the steps below to reset your PIN: 1. Open the **Google Home App** and scroll until you see the August Lock paired with your Google Home account 2. Select (any) lock 3. Tap on your **Settings** Cog in the top right 4. Select **Unlink August Home** 5. Confirm **U****nlink** 6. On the following screen, select **August Home** 7. Tap **Unlink account** and confirm unlink Once you have unlinked your accounts, go through the setup steps again. This is where you reset the PIN. Choose a memorable PIN. ## What if Google Assistant can't unlock my door? If Google is stating they do not understand the request, this is likely a Google issue as it is never asking you for your PIN to initiate the request to our August servers. If Google asks for your PIN and it returns the error, it's best to ensure: 1. Your PIN is correct. If you are unsure, it's best to unlink the skill and relink to create a new PIN. 2. Ensure your Wi-Fi Connect Bridge is online. The easiest way to verify that is to temporarily disable your phone's Bluetooth, and confirm that you are able to establish a lock connection with your Yale Access app. If you are not able to establish a lock connection, your Wi-Fi Connect Bridge may be offline. 3. If you are still unable to connect, reach out to Customer Support. ## Why do I need an August Wi-Fi bridge if my Google devices have Bluetooth built in?  Google Home requires an August Wi-Fi bridge in order to connect to our servers and complete the integration with your August Smart Lock.
