Remove battery cover Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, loosen the battery cover screw. Remove a battery Remove at least one of the batteries from your lock to power it off. Insert the module With the logo facing up, insert the module. Registering the Module Follow the below steps to register your Connected by August / Yale Access module with your lock. Enter the Programming Menu on the host lock: 1. Enter the Master PIN code on the keypad, then select the gear key 2. Press '7', then the gear key 3. Exit the menu by selecting the 'Previous' button (the red back arrow in the upper left corner) or wait for the menu to time out This completes the registration process for the module. Next, set up the Connected by August / Yale Access lock in the app. #### Step 7. If you no longer have a QR code associated with the device, the serial number can be used during setup. 1. Open the app 2. Select the menu in the top-left corner 3. Select Set up a Device to access the QR code scanner 4. Scan the code. If you are unable to scan it, select Can’t Scan the Code to set up with the Serial Number, which is the 10-digit number located on the sticker inside the battery cover.  5. Set up Connect Wi-Fi Bridge Steps to set up the Connect Wi-Fi Bridge are available [here](https://support.august.com/setting-up-august-connect-rkZxevUy0_z). ## Installing DoorSense™ DoorSense™ allows you to detect if your door is open or closed. First, decide how you would like to install the DoorSense™. August provides two options for installation: a surface mount and a flush mount installation. The surface mount installation requires the use of a screwdriver only. Determine mounting location For optimal performance, DoorSense™ should be mounted within 1.5 inches from the edge of your door frame, and should align with your lock’s module. NOTE: If you do not have a flat door frame or you have a perpendicular wall directly next to your door, the DoorSense™ can be alternatively installed on the perpendicular wall. Attach mounting tape Remove one side of the adhesive backing. Attach to the back of your DoorSense™, making sure to align the edges and screw holes. Place on door frame Press the adhesive side of the DoorSense™ on your frame in the proper identified mounting position. Screw into frame Hand tighten your DoorSense™ to the frame using the included screws. Calibrate your Lock Once the lock is set up, navigate to the Lock Settings and select Calibrate Lock and select LOCK AND DOORSENSE™. Follow the instructions in the app until you have successfully calibrated your smart lock and DoorSense™ together. Open and close the door and validate that the door state is accurate. If it is not accurate or the calibration was unsuccessful, relocate the DoorSense™ housing closer to the smart lock and go through the calibration process again until you get accurate results. If you elected to not insert the screws into the door frame, go back and insert the screws into the housing and secure them into your door frame or wall and place the cover over the housing. Remove magnet from housing Using a small blunt object, push the magnet carrier from the housing through the center hole. Assemble magnet to cap Expose the adhesive by removing the blue backing. Press the cap onto the notched side of the magnet carrier. Mount in the frame DoorSense™ will be flush mounted into the frame of your door, so your smart lock swings away when the door is opened. Determine mounting location Hand tighten your DoorSense™ to the frame using the included screws. DoorSense™ should be mounted between 1.5” and 3.5” from the top edge of your deadbolt strike plate, centered on the frame. Tape drill bit It may be helpful to attach tape to your drill bit to mark the proper depth of hole to drill. Insert DoorSense into hole Insert the DoorSense™ into the hole. Download the app 2. Install the lock on your door 3. Install the module in the lock 4. Configure the integration between HomeKit and the app using the QR code located on the Terms and Conditions pamphlet included with your module 5. Set up the lock in the Home app to complete the integration PLEASE NOTE: You will not be able to set up the HomeKit unless the module is already seated in the lock, which is why the QR code is included with the Terms and Conditions in the packaging. Affix the QR code sticker from the Terms and Conditions pamphlet to your lock for future reference.
