For troubleshooting purposes, you may need to find your lock's serial number.

  

To find your lock's serial number:

1.  Remove the faceplate from your Smart Lock, as if you were replacing your lock batteries. Your serial number may be on the back of the faceplate.
2.  If your serial number is not on the back of the faceplate, it will be on the back of your August Smart Lock.   
    💡 **_If your lock is mounted on a door, you will need to remove the lock from its mounting plate to access the serial number._**

  

You can also find information about your lock, such as the serial number, in the August app. Follow these steps to find your lock's serial number in the App:

1.  In the August app, select the lock from your Keychain.
2.  Open the **Settings** menu by selecting the gear symbol on the lower right-hand side of the screen
3.  Select the device
4.  Scroll down to **Device Information** and select

The serial number for your lock is listed there. Alternatively in most cases, the serial number is available on the back of the lock.

If you need to know the Generation of the Smart Lock you have, it is identified by the first parts of the serial number:

*   L1 - 1st Generation
*   L2 - 2nd Generation
*   L3 - Smart Lock Pro
*   L4 - 3rd Generation
*   L5 - 4th Generation

  

For Yale Smart Locks with the Connected by August module, the 10 digit serial number is located on the module itself. The battery cover needs to be removed to access the serial. 

  

If you need to know the type of the Yale Smart Module you have, it is identified by the first parts of the serial number:

  

*   M1 or M7  - Yale Access Bluetooth module
*   M5 - Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module
