This article will walk you through accessing your [August account](https://account.august.com/login) from a secondary device. For instance, if you lose your phone, lock yourself out, or get a new phone, you will need to log into your account from a device other than the one you usually use.

  

To access your account from an alternative device, download the [August Home app](https://support.august.com/how-to-download-the-august-app-rJrU8C3b8) on the device if it is not there already. Click on the buttons below to be taken directly to the August Home app in either the App Store for iPhone or Google Play for Android.

❗**_O__ur app is optimized for iOS and Android mobile devices._** August uses a token to authorize your mobile device entry to your home. For security purposes, our app does not work with desktop applications.

  

  

Once the August Home app is on the device, log out of existing accounts (if needed). 

  

There are two ways to log into your account:

1.  Use the phone number associated with your account
2.  Use the email associated with your account

  

  

## Logging in with your phone number

❗**_Are you using a different phone?_** You will be unable to receive an SMS code to verify your account if you are not using the phone with your associated number. Log in with your email address if you have lost your phone or if you are locked out.

  

1.  From the sign in screen, tap **Sign In**. 
2.  Enter the phone number and password associated with your account. 
3.  A verification code will be sent to your phone. When prompted, enter the verification code in the form provided. 
4.  Your keychain will appear following this step and you can continue to use your lock as usual.

## Logging in with your email address

1.  From the sign in screen, tap **Sign In**.
2.  Tap **Sign In With Email Instead**. 
3.  Enter your email address and password. 
4.  A verification code will be sent to your email address. Log into your email account to retrieve the verification code. 
5.  When prompted, enter the verification code in the form provided. 
6.  Your keychain will appear following this step.
